So in my mind, I had these views and fears about naturality:
1. As Martin Lawrence would have called it, "buck shot weedaweed" (the balled up hair in the back of the head towards the nape). I absolutely hated & still hate that. Oh my word! I dreaded it. They look horrible and they give hair a BAD look. I don't even know these things form 'cuz my hair has NEVER gotten them.
2. The "brillo pad look"- Dry, unkempt black hair is horrible. When hair isn't moisturized and taken care of, it will look a HOT mess!!!
3. Not being able to comb through- Now, I don't use the comb in my hair unless I'm parting my hair but when black hair isn't moisturized, it can be a mess to comb through. It's quite painful to comb through. It's like the hair is a jungle and it's pointless to comb through it 'cuz it gets lost in it. Some combs have broken as a result of combing through dry, tangled hair.
4. Time- Black hair needs TLC; a lot of TLC.
What were the reasons why you wouldn't have gone natural?
Kendra's thoughts?
1. I liked fried *ahem* straight *ahem* hair too much.
2. I thought natural hair looked unkept and messy!
3. I didn't want to wear an afro every day of my life! I thought that natural hair = afro
4. Too much maintenance! Deep conditioner? Who does that with a relaxer?
