Hair Tip #37: Twists on Wet Hair using Flax Seed Gel

Today was wash day! Here is what I did:

  • Deep conditioned my hair with a homemade deep conditioner. (Greek yogurt and honey)
  • Washed with terressentials with all of my hair out
  • Sectioned my hair into 5 large sections once I was out of the shower
  • Spritzed with my refreshing hair mist to one section, and applied a quarter size of my shea butter mix to the section
  • Applied a generous amount of flax seed gel to the section and finger detangled
  • Twisted in large sections
Results?

Super moisturized, soft and bouncy!! It bounces and sways when I walk :)

Why did I use flax seed gel?

I wanted super defined curls, with a good hold and shine! That is exactly what I got. By twirling the bottom of each twist around my finger, I got amazing coils. I love it!

What about the massive amount of shrinkage??

There is a lot of shrinkage when you style your hair when it is wet. There is no way around it! I rarely "style" my hair with it is wet. I stretch it and then style. But this time, I used the shea butter and the flax seed gel because I am aiming for an ultra defined twist out in a few days.

Don't allow shrinkage to become bothersome or annoying to you... When you have curly hair, guess what? It shrinks!

Besides, why does it matter what others see if you know your true length?

Have you used flax seed gel before? What was your experience?
