Healthy Hair, Healthy Lifestyle: Managing Your Sweet Tooth

I don't know about you but often at work, after lunch, I feel the urge to eat a candy bar!! Dun, dun, dun! Well lately I have been curving my sweet tooth cravings for something healthy. I have found substitutes that are sweet enough to satisfy my craving and are healthy alternatives!

1. When you crave candy, opt for dried fruit.

There are so many variations of dried fruit so you can't go wrong. There are so many options. You can choose trail mix dried fruit, Craisins
sliced and dried apples, apricot or mango, apple or banana chips, dried papaya, dried pineapple, dried cherries, etc. The list goes on and on! So pick up a bag and pack a little sandwich bag of dried fruit in your purse. So when you feel the urge, you can satisfy it knowing that you aren't packing on unnecessary calories!

2. When you crave soda, opt for an herbal fruit tea

This has been tried and true for me. I keep a stash of herbal tea in my drawer at work. It gives me just enough sweetness to make me feel like I had a special treat! Plus, if you buy a tea with antioxidants, you are getting a boost of nutrients and vitamins! Some of my favorites? Pomegranate white tea, blueberry tea, mangosteen super fruit tea, and strawberry raspberry tea.

The best part about herbal tea is that it relaxes you. So when you have had a busy morning, a cup of tea at lunch helps to calm your nerves and relieve stress. So go ahead and buy some. It will do you some good!

3. When you crave ice cream, opt for frozen yogurt

Frozen yogurt (Fro-yo for short) is amazing! There are so many flavors to choose from. My husband and I choose fruit flavors and top it with fresh fruit such as kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, mango, etc. It is delicious and pretty inexpensive.

We generally pay around $6 for both of us to have a good helping of this stuff. You are getting the same ice cold creamy consistency but you are eating fruit with it! And its sweet!

So, as you seen you CAN eat healthy and break those bad habits!
