Food for the Soul: Harder to Do What's Right ...

Its lunch break and I have an option. I can eat the yummy homemade Greek salad that I made… or I can go pick up a burger instead. I fought myself about it for a few minutes, drove away and parked my car. Then I sighed and took a big bite of my salad expecting to be disappointed that it wasn’t a juicy burger. My eyebrows perked up because surprisingly it was sooo good…

Why is it so hard to do the right thing sometimes? Even down to eating what you know is good for you. It would be much easier to have gone to Carls Jr for a burger and fries. But I “settled” for a salad and found that it was delicious AND it was good for me.

Learning to be a strong willed person, determined to do what is good for you might not be as painful as it seems. The next time you are faced with a difficult situation and are tempted to do what is wrong, ask God to help you to do what’s right even if it doesn’t see feasible. You might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

" For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin." (Romans 7:19-25)
