This is a super easy recipe for an all natural, organic and inexpensive homemade hair gel! Personally I have been transitioning to a more natural outlook on my hair. I picked up this idea from Naptural85 on YouTube.
What do you need?
-whole flax seed
-water
-container for storage
-essential oils for preservation (any you choose)
-cheap knee highs for straining (33 cents at Walmart!) OR you can use a strainer!
-pot
-measuring cup
How to make:
1. Start with 1/4 cup of flax seed and 2 cups of water. Pour them into your pot
2. Turn the heat on medium high and get your spoon ready to stir! As soon as the water starts boiling keep stirring so the flax seed doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot
3. Prepare your container and knee highs for straining! Stretch the knee high over the container.
(Again if you choose to use a strainer you would just place it in the container)
4. Keep stirring until the mixture gets thick. Notice the mucus that floats to the top. That's a sign it is thickening!
5. Now pour it into the strainer and strain the flax seeds from the gel. I used metal tongs
6. Now add your essential oils and seal the container! You are all done!
How long did it take?
About 15 minutes total. I was surprised at how quick and easy the process is!
What is so great about flax seed?
-Great source of Omega 3 fatty acids
-Helps combat scalp issues such as psoriasis
-Makes hair shiny and moisturized
-Provides better curl definition
-Said to work better than other curl enhancing products
How long does it last?
12-14 weeks in the fridge!
Why is this cost efficient?
-You can reuse the seeds
-Flex seeds are inexpensive. I purchased that bag for under $4.00
So how does it look on my hair? How well does it hold and define?
I put it on my edges and pulled my freshly washed hair into a puff. What do you think?
My thoughts?
FLAX SEED GEL IS A KEEPER!!
