Food for the Soul: Learning to Love Holiness

How many times have you looked at a friend, relative, co-worker or stranger and thought it might be nice to show more skin and "express" yourself in your dress?

Chances are its happened more than once or twice. Don't worry there is nothing wrong with you. You are human. Our flesh doesn't want to standout. It doesn't want to be the outcast or the one who is different.

Present our bodies a living *gasp* sacrifice?!

Let me tell you about a girl who used to be the one showing off her skin. That girl was me. Insecure, wanting love and attention. Sadly every time I wore something that showed off my legs or arms, I felt incredibly uncomfortable and ashamed. Why? Because I knew I was getting attention for all the wrong reasons. So if you think those girls are strutting their stuff with no second thought, you are wrong.

The day I walked into a Pentecostal church I remember stopping at the door and staring at the women. Mouth wide open... I told my friend who brought me, "These are the most beautiful people I have ever seen!" I couldn't take my eyes off their hair, their flowing garments.. I thought it was the pretty and stylish dresses that attracted me. But it was holiness. God showed me how beautiful holiness is.

Let me tell you there is nothing more beautiful than holiness.. Nothing.

For the record, no guy who truly respects you wants you to show off everything to everyone else. Sure he may think you are easy on the eyes but so does everyone else. And when it's time for him to find a wife, he will want someone who respects herself enough to cover up. Brendan was the first guy who told me how beautiful I was covered up, and all natural. And he is my husband now :)

Let me encourage you to embrace, love and thank God for holiness.

Thank God for conviction. Lord let us have true conviction in our hearts.
